WAIKIKI (KHNL) -- It was a big day for the Warrior football team and their fans at the Stan Sherrif Center.
The excitement didn't stop there. Sunday night was the end of the year banquet for the team.
With the success the Hawaii football teams have been enjoying over the past few years, the annual Alec Waterhouse Memorial Football Awards Banquet has tripled in size.
Sunday night, 1500 came out to show there appreciation for this years Warrior football team. Some of the entertainment was provided by a few players with great voices, just before dinner. The banquet which is put on by the Na Koa Football Club, honored the 2007 University of Hawaii football team and coaches. Win or lose the Na Koa Football Club will always be there to support there UH Warriors.
"Whether we go 0 and 12 or 12 andf 0, we still hold the banquet, the recognition remains," said Ben Yee of the Na Koa Football Club.
"I came on my recruiting trip to visit before, and they were all spectacular banquets, all our boosters did an amazing job just taking care of the players, the guests and even the recruits that came," said Warrior Football Player C.J. Hawthorne.
Some of the players say they love the local Hawaiian food, but they're also looking forward to tasting some good old fashioned Cajun food in New Orleans when they head south for the Sugar Bowl.
