Honolulu (KHNL) -- To the victors, come the spoils.

But there's nothing rotten about what Warrior football team got.

Victorious 12-times this season, they're getting some love. Or some might say -- some sugar.

Hawaii is headed to its first ever Bowl Championship Series Bowl Game, earning a berth into the New Year's Day Sugar Bowl, in New Orleans.

They face Georgia, who finished the year 10-2, good for second place in the Southeastern Conference's East Division.

"Everyone's real excited about the opportunity in front of us," Colt Brennan said . "We're just really grateful, real grateful for how the season turned out, grateful that we ended the night last night the way we did and grateful to play in a BCS bowl game."

The Warriors came back from a 21-point deficit to beat Washington, 35-28, for their 12th win of the season.

"I'm still in shock right now," Davone Bess said . "This season was special."

Fans filled the 50,000 seat Aloha Stadium for the second straight game against the Huskies. On Sunday, thousands came to the Stan Sheriff Center, to watch the bowl announcement live.

"It was beautiful seeing how many people showed out to this to be here and to support us on this journey,"  Ryan Grice-Mullen said. "It's just amazing."

Despite the excitement, fans planning to go to New Orleans to watch the game in person will have to wait. At this time, tickets are not available yet.
