Fire Breaks Out at Keehi Lagoon Park Homeless Camp

By Minna Sugimoto

HONOLULU (KHNL) -- Wednesday's wet weather delayed the removal of homeless tents at Keehi Lagoon Park.

But firefighters were called to the site Wednesday afternoon, when a fire broke out at the homeless camp. State sheriffs say no one was seen starting the fire.

On Tuesday, law enforcement officers forced dozens of homeless people out of their tents and made 15 arrests. They say the camp is in a restricted area that's part of the Honolulu International Airport.

The structures are now scheduled to be torn down Thursday, weather permitting.
