WAIKIKI (KHNL) -- Start your engines! Cars and kids made a charitable combination today at a Toys for Tots donation drive. Car buffs could bring a present to the "Christmas Car Cruiser event".
Toys for Tots is celebrating it's 60th anniversary this year! Last year, it collected more than 50,000 toys for Hawaii children. This year, the goal is 60,000 toys, and the organization is well on its way!
U.S. Marine Corps Chief Warrant Officer Emby Delgadillo has been volunteering with Toys for Tots for most of her military career.
"I enjoy it, I've been doing it for at least 14 years out of my career. It's giving back to the community, wherever you're stationed at, they have Toys for Tots in every single state," said Delgadillo.
She enjoys watching the joy people get -- giving to the program.
"I see their face when they're giving us the toys and they don't even see the end state. The gifts given to the children at the end -- and that what's even the best part."
It's the same joy Kingston Liao got watching his two year old son hand over toys.
"Just watching him, watching him hand the toys off. I work in property management and I also see a lot of kids that don't have a lot of stuff. It its kina neat to see him learning the good stuff and giving back," said Liao.
An only child, this kid will have lots to unwrap on Christmas day. But, giving back is a lesson dad want to make sure he gets.
