HALAWA (KHNL) -- They called for a green out at Aloha Stadium and that's what they got.
Even the parking lot turned into a sea of green Friday with thousands of tailgate parties.
Talk about home field advantage.
The noise is deafening out here when UH makes a big play.
It's a moment fans have been waiting for.
Gates opened at 10:30 am. Everyone picks a spot and pitches a tent. A great way to block out the heat.
And an ice cold beverage cools them off. Some went to great lengths to get here.
"I called in sick because I can't wait, this is the game of the year and I have to be here to support the team", said Warriors fan Eric Quiacusan.
The fans are faithful.
"I think all of Hawaii is behind June Jones and Colt Brennen, " said Chris Brown, another fan.
Kids toss around the pigskin wearing jerseys and warrior paint. With all that football they work up an appetite.
So they fire up the grill. Some cook oysters and when ready they add the hot sauce and down the hatch.
Some came in from Maui just for the game.
"Especially in Hawaii when teams come to Hawaii. It's a miracle," said Ronnie Cabo, a fan.
