PEARL KAI (KHNL) -- KHNL News 8 has continuing coverage of a Salt Lake family's desperate search for a new home.

The American Red Cross arranged temporary shelter at the Harbor Shores Apartment Hotel for the fire victims, but encouraged them to find long-term housing by 11 am Wednesday.

A family spokesperson says finding a place for the extended family of some 30 people has been difficult. But as the deadline approached, the hotel offered some good news.

"We're grateful for the management of this hotel," Kangichy Welle, family spokesperson, said. "They have graciously offered one more day extension for the family. So we have up to tomorrow, 11 o'clock tomorrow to find a place."

Flames ripped through the family's home on Likini Street last Wednesday. Four-year-old John Rex Ceasar died in the fire.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
