KAHULUI, Maui (KHNL) -- Workers continue their clean-up effort at Kahului Harbor's Pier 1 after an oil leak was discovered last week.
Officials say a pinhole in an abandoned pipeline at the base of Pier 1 caused about 300 gallons of heavy industrial number 6 fuel oil to leak into the harbor November 6.
Clean-up crews were able to prevent the oil from spreading to other areas of the harbor.
Crews worked through the Veteran's Day weekend removing and cleaning equipment. They will continue to work throughout the week.
Maui Electric is investigating why there was oil in the pipeline.
