SALT LAKE (KHNL) - Firefighters say a little boy is dead after flames ravage the Salt Lake home.  Firefighters made the tragic discovery just a couple hours ago.

When the fire first broke out, fire officials reported a boy in the home was missing.  His body is burned beyond recognition, so investigators cannot confirm yet if it's the missing boy.

A battalion chief says 21 people lived inside the two-story home, located on the 4000 block of Likini Street.

Twelve to 15 of them are children.  Their cries could be heard from a block away.

Firefighters say the home is a total loss.

Police have blocked off the area.  They say they'll be out at the scene for at least a couple hours investigating.

Firefighters say its too early to tell what caused the fire and they're not sure if there were smoke alarms in the house.

The American Red Cross has stepped in to help.  A bus was brought in to take the entire family to a shelter.
