TheBoat Reaches Milestone

HONOLULU (KHNL) -  Honolulu's new intra-island ferry service has reached a milestone.   More than 10,000 passengers have boarded TheBoat in the first six weeks of service.

The 10,000th passenger was among those on Tuesday's 4:20 PM run from Aloha Tower to Kalaeloa.

"We are happy that so many people have chosen to use this new service," said Mayor Mufi Hannemann.  "TheBoat is providing our residents with a choice they never had before, a choice to use a ferry linked to bus service.  I've always said we are looking to offer people options in an integrated, multi-modal transportation system, and I'm pleased that they are taking advantage of 'TheBoat.'"

TheBoat service was launched last month.  Since then, the City has added features such as free WiFi service and free parking at both Kalaeloa and in Kapolei.
