Wailea Beach Re-opens Following Shark Attack

WAILEA, Maui (KHNL) - Wailea Beach on the south side of Maui is re-opened.  Maui Ocean Safety officials closed the beach after a shark bit a California man swimming in waters Monday afternoon.

An air reconnaissance conducted Tuesday morning to survey the ocean area did not produce any shark sighting.

Officials say 32-year-old Aaron Finley was swimming in about 30 feet of water at the time of the attack.

Maui Memorial Medical Center spokeswoman Carol Clark says the victim is in good condition. He's exected to undergo surgery and be released in a day or two.
