DLNR Closes Forest Reserves Due to Fire Hazard

HONOLULU (KHNL) --  Due to the dry conditions from the Makaha fire this past week, the Department of Land and Natural Resources closed all state forest reserves in the Waianae mountains until further notice.

The closure includes the Kuaokala, Mokuleia, Makua-Keaau, Waianae and Nanakuli Forest Reserves and the Kuaokala game management area.

These areas are now closed to hiking, camping, hunting and all public activity.

The scheduled game bird hunt in Kuaokala GMA which was set to open the first weekend in November, has been suspended until the closure is lifted.
