Father's Battle Over Wheelchair Ramp Finally Over

KAIMUKI (KHNL) -- A Kaimuki man and his daughters are celebrating. Their long battle with the city over a wheelchair ramp at their home is over.

Six months ago, a frightened Etalynia Jahier prepared to use a temporary ramp. She and her sister, Renisha, have motor, visual and speech impairments due to a genetic disorder.

Their father built a solid, wooden walkway for them. But he says he was forced to tear it down.

Robert Jahier tells KHNL News 8 the city finally approved his building permit Wednesday, allowing him to put a more solid structure back up.
