Red Cross Sets up Website for California Fire Victims

HONOLULU (KHNL) -  The American Red Cross is urging people in Southern California who are affected by the wildfires to register themselves on the Red Cross Safe and Well website.

On this site, people can leave a status message for their loved ones, letting them know their general location and well-being.

Using the phone number or complete home address of the person affected by the disaster, viewers can search the list of those who have self-registered and view any "safe and well" messages that may have been left by loved ones.

In the last 24 hours, 804 people have registered on line as "safe and well."

For those in a disaster area without access to a computer, a Red Cross operator can help the person register by calling 1-800-RED CROSS.
