Hawaii had Second Lowest Unemployment Rate in Nation

HONOLULU (KHNL) - For the second month in a row, Hawaii had the second lowest unemployment rate in the nation.

According to the Hawaii State Department of Labor and Industrial Relations, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for September was 2.6%, marking the third straight month at this rate.

"A thriving Hawaii economy over the long-term is reflected in the fact that today we have more people employed and less people unemployed than five years ago, "said Darwin L.D. Ching, Interim Director of Labor and Industrial Relations.

Since December 2002, Hawaii's employed population has an increase of 49,850 more people and 5,900 less people unemployed.
