Makaha Fire Flares Back Up

MAKAHA (KHNL) - Firefighters are battling another fire in Makaha.  Officials say this fire is an extension of the fire that burned about 300 acres over the weekend.

Steady winds are blowing that fire up the Makaha Valley.

Because of the terrain, firefighters cannot reach the flames by land so they are fighting the flames by air, using helicopters.

This fire has died down a bit and now is burning about 35 acres.

Fire officials say they have about a 50-50 chance of extinguishing the brushfire by sundown.

No homes are threatened.
