MANOA (KHNL) - After seven weeks of grueling it out on the gridiron, the Hawaii football team gets a much needed bye to recuperate for their 2nd half run.
"We was in need of it real bad man, a couple guys including myself got nicked up last game, so it gives a good chance to enjoy the week and try to get these injuries taken care of and get back to business," said Davone Bess.
"I definitely needed it, it's finally a chance to rest my ankle and get ready and get back in sync with everything so it's good to have we're enjoying it right now," said quarterback Colt Brennan.
However, don't think the Warriors have thrown all their cares out the window, with five games left on the schedule, three on national TV, Hawaii will look to keep their eyes on a perfect season and a potential BCS berth.
"Knowing we're in the 2nd half of our schedule where the bulk of our schedule is, we want to take everything seriously where this is a new beginning a new start, we don't want to have any regrets once the rest of the season comes along," said Bess.
And it all begins again next Saturday when the New Mexico State Aggies come to town.
"It gives us two weeks to get ready for an offense you're not used to seeing in new mexico state, and you just kind of look ahead and it gives you a couple days to look at teams down the road so you get a jump on that," said head coach June Jones.
