HONOKAA, Hawaii (KHNL) - The Hale Hoola Hamakua Nursing Home in Honokaa suffered hundreds of thousands of dollars in damage and repairs are still being done.
The images and chaos of that day are still fresh in the minds of workers and patients.
Broken water lines caused massive flooding and led to an evacuation of the entire wing.
Today, it's business as usual for the workers and the more than 50 patients who are now back in their rooms.
The area that sustained the heaviest water-damage now looks as good as new after an estimated $250,000 dollars in repairs.
"Well, it's been a long year, but a very good one," said hospital administrator, Jeanne Abe. "We were able to get everyone back safely, we had no injuries with patients, we were able to get all the repairs done," But outside, there's still much more work to be done.
Abe says construction to fix the damage here will cost another $500,000 dollars.
