Health Alert on Pot-Pie Associated Salmonella

HONOLULU (AP) - State health officials are urging residents not to eat ConAgra Foods Inc. frozen pot pies with "P9" in the identification code printed on the box.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture has issued a federal health alert advising consumers the product has been associated with an outbreak of salmonella in 30 states.

There have been no reports of salmonella cases in Hawaii associated with the product.

The pot pies are sold under the Banquet brand and store-brand names.

Salmonella typically causes diarrhea, and is often accompanied by abdominal cramps and fever.
