(KHNL) - Home from Hawaii. And he's doing so after completing one of the most thorough baseball roadtrips you could imagine.
Sitting quietly among just a smattering of fans, one could never know or appreciate just how much Peter Taylor loves the game of baseball. Unless of course, you've been to his webpage: "Heaven or Iowa.com" a classic line taken from the classic baseball movie, Field of Dreams.
A story and a game that sent Taylor chasing his own dream.
"I've learned to love it. I've found a team that I've become emotionally linked to and it's a sport that's near to my heart," said Taylor.
His odyssey began April 1st at a minor league ball park in Virginia Beach. It ended last night on a day when major league baseball's post season got underway, a British man is heading hans orange park here on Oahu.
And in between, he took in ballgames in 49 of the 50 U.S. states. North Dakota the lone exception.
"I've been to 25 major league games and 62 games in all".
Game and the same moves but sitting here surrounded by people here just for the love of the game".
Throughout his journey he consumed too many hot dogs andpeanuts to remember. And he learned more about himself than he ever thought possible.
"I've had so much support from my wife and children and friends for something some people may see this as a mere infatuation but I'm just an old guy living out his dreams."
And now, with the final out of his amazing journey in the books, he heads home. With memories of so much more than just a game.
"I've probably spent less than I estimated because so many people have been so generous, I've stayed in the homes of people I've never met before". "Once in a lifetime experience, I'll never do it again obviously, but it was worth every penny".
