Statement from Hawaii Superferry on Maui Court Ruling

HONOLULU (KHNL) - Shortly after a Maui judge delivers his ruling on the Superferry's fate Tuesday morning, Hawaii Superferry president and CEO John Garibaldi made the following statement:

"Obviously, we are disappointed.  While the ruling is a loss for Hawaii Superferry and our employees, it is a greater loss for the State of Hawaii."

Maui Circuit Judge Joseph Cardoza decided state law requires that an environmental study be conducted before service starts.

Hawaii Superferry attorneys told the judge they would appeal.

Cardoza ruled after listening to four weeks of testimony.
