LANAI (KHNL) - Two brush fires that started Sunday morning on Lanai are both extinguished.
The first fire started just before 10:30 Sunday morning on Keomoku Road in the Mahana Area, approximately two miles from Lanai City.
The fire burned an estimated 30 acres before it was fully extinguished by 11:00 Monday morning.
The second fire, reported at 11:04 and extinguished by 3:00 PM, burned an estimated two acres on the Manele Access Road, approximately three miles from town.
The fire department dispatched both Air One and Air Two helicopters to aid Lanai fire personnel.
Nine Maui fire fighters were also sent to Lanai to join fire fighting efforts.
No injuries were reported and no structures were damaged.
The cause for both fires are under investigation.
