OAHU (KHNL) - Drivers beware! Some of Oahu's busy roads are closing down for repairs. All the construction could leave many drivers with traffic headaches.

There are four projects planned over the weekend through the next work week.

The first two projects are along Ala Moana Boulevard, which is in store for a facelift. Repavement, new concrete bus pads, curbs gutters and a street light - improvements commuters say are much needed.

"A lot of bumps, it's just getting really congested here," say Jason Wilson, a truck driver.

Construction crews will first close two Ewa bound lanes at Ala Moana Boulevard between Kamakee Street and Ward Avenue starting Friday night until Monday morning.

Then, multiple lanes will close down along Ala Aoana Boulevard near Restaurant Row and the Aloha Tower Marketplace from Monday night to Friday.

It's all part of a plan to repave all lanes of Ala Moana Boulevard by Thanksgiving.

But some drivers say they'd rather have a quicker drive versus a smoother ride.

"Well there's areas that are bumpy but I'd like them to do something about the traffic more so than the bumps," says one commuter on Ala Moana Boulevard.

Transportation leaders urge motorists to be patient and drive carefully through work areas.

The Ala Moana road work is not the only Department of Transportation project this weekend.

Saturday night, Windward residents will need to take the Pali Highway or H-3 home. That's because the Kaneohe bound lanes of the Likelike Highway will be closed from 7:00 pm Saturday until 7:00 Sunday morning.

The closure is for tunnel maintenance.

Also on Sunday, roadwork on the H-1 airport viaduct will force the DOT to close the three rightmost lanes in the westbound direction.

The closure is near the airport all the way to the Aloha Stadium area.

All on and off ramps will remain open during work.
