Former Hawaii Pilot who Crashed in Florida Doing Better

FT. LAUDERDALE, Florida (KHNL) - The former Hawaii pilot who crashed his cargo plane onto the side of a conjested Florida freeway six days ago is doing much better now.

Bloodied and broken, 34-year-old Robert "Sam" Robertson is hailed as a hero for putting his disabled plane into an enbankment, missing cars on busy I95.

His mother, Julie Coelho of Honolulu, reports Robertson is doing much better. He has been upgraded to fair condition from critical, but is expected to have a lot of rehabilitation ahead.

On Thursday, if he feels up to it, Robertson is expected to have a news conference in South Florida to talk about the accident.
