Restoration Project to Temporarily Close Part of Kamaole Beach Park III

KIHEI, Maui (KHNL) -  A section of the North end of Kamaole Beach Park III will be closed off for a sand dune restoration project beginning September 14.

The coastal sand dune system in the North section of the park, eroded over time by wind and tides, will be replenished and replanted with existing grass and native naupaka.

The use of heavy construction equipment will require the temporary closure of the grassy area just north of the main parking lot for approximately three months; after the initial sand-delivery phase, closure will be limited to a smaller area to protect new plantings.
