(KHNL) - After a brief visit to Hawaii, President George Bush has left on Air Force One.
Slightly ahead of schedule, the President departed before 3:00 Saturday afternoon. He had arrived at about 11:00 that morning.
During his stay, the President met with 33 wounded soldiers stationed in Hawaii. Thirty-two had been wounded in Iraq, and one was wounded in Afghanistan. Also present were 36 of their family members. The President also luncheoned with military commanders and presented a Volunteer Service Award to Caroline Tom. Tom is a volunteer with the Lanakila Multi-Purpose Center and Palama Settlement. The Service Award honors her for making a difference in the lives of others.
While here, President Bush also gave a statement regarding the situation in Iraq. He also spoke about the First Lady, who had undergone surgery earlier Saturday. He says she's doing fine.
