Kailua (KHNL)- Honolulu police charge a Kailua fast food employee with sexually assaulting a woman in the restaurant after it closed.
Police say the workers at Jack-in-the-Box in Kailua found an intoxicated woman outside the restaurant early Friday morning and allegedly brought her inside even though only the 24 hour drive-through was open.
But then officers say the situation turned violent. Employees at the Jack-in-the-Box on Oneawa Street in Kailua are quick to close the windows of the drive-thru to our questions.
Investigators say Elia Hauanio was manning the drive-thru window Friday morning around 3:30 a.m. when he and another worker allegedly invited a confused and intoxicated woman into the restaurant.
Police say the 19-year-old victim lives nearby but was so intoxicated she couldn't find her way home. While in the restaurant she passed out and told police she woke up when the suspect was dragging her into a back area and sexually assaulting her.
Jack-in-the-Box is not commenting on the investigation and members of their communications department haven't returned our calls.
And police say there are a lot of unanswered questions. For example how long was the girl inside the restaurant and why didn't anyone call police?
Surveillance video may help clear up some of the confusion.
