Superferry TRO Remains in Place

WAILUKU, Maui (KHNL) - A TRO keeping the Hawaii Superferry from going to Maui remains in place after a Maui judge denied a motion to desolve the temporary restraining order.

Circuit Judge Joseph Cardoza issued the restraining order Monday stopping the Superferry's service to Maui after the state Supreme Court decided the state should have required an environmental assessment.

A hearing on a second motion which would stop Superferry service on Maui until an environmental assessement is completed will continue sometime next week.  Until then, the TRO remains in place.

The company halted service to Kauai on Tuesday following disruptive protests Sunday and Monday at the island's Nawiliwili Harbor.
