Hawaii's One Of The Best Places In The World To View This Celestial Event

(KHNL) - Hawaii was one of the best places in the world to view this celestial event.  It all began at about 10:51 at night.

A grey colored moon made it's orbit around the earth.

Last night the alignment was perfect the moon would gradually turn dark as it moved into the earth's shadow. It began just before 11 p.m. the moon would be cloaked in darkness within an hour.

Soon the moon would take on a spectacular orange glow. That's because light filtering through our atmosphere is bouncing off the moon.

The eclipse lasted until almost 2 a.m. As the moon emerged from behind the earth's shadow, you could see the planet illuminated by the sun's light.

The next lunar eclipse that can be viewed from Hawaii will be in 2010.

I'll be back with your complete weather forecast later in the newscast.
