Veterans, Families Seek Better Treatment of War Injuries

HONOLULU (KHNL) - Hawaii veterans and their family members are pleading for faster, better health care from the military after they leave the service with injuries that often last for years.

One witness at a congressional hearing in Honolulu says the difficulties of getting medical treatment for veterans are sometimes as painful as the original disease.

Hawaii Senator Daniel Akaka says he will take comments from the hearing back to Washington as he pushes for more funds for veterans.
