(KHNL) - Upon completion of their 20th Anniversary Convention on Kaui, the former "State Council of Hawaiian Homestead Associations (SCHHA)" declared their sovereignty through the passage of its Constitution, a slate of newly elected leaders, and its new name -- the "Sovereign Councils of the Hawaiian Homelands Assembly (SCHHA)."
Votes from 25 Homestead Associations statewide allowed this self-governance and self-determination on Hawaiian Homestead lands.
Kamaki Kanahele takes the stand as the newly elected chairman of the SCHHA.
