LIMA, Peru (KHNL) - A powerful 7.9 magnitude earthquake rattled the coast of Peru Wednesday night killing at least 17 people.

The quake struck at 6:41 p.m. (1:41 p.m. HST) and was centered about 90 miles southeast of the capital of Lima.
