(KHNL) - The University of Hawaii has a former U.S. athlete on campus.  Back in 1976, in Montreal, Canada, UH athletics director Herman Frazier won both a gold and bronze medal as a member of the U.S. track and field team.

These days, Frazier is a consultant to the U.S. Olympic Committee.

And back in 2004, he served as the overall leader for team U.S.A. as the games hit Athens, Greece.

And among the biggest concerns for Frazier and team U.S.A. this time around as the games descend on Beijing, China, is the conditions in the host country.

One year out of the games, some olympic venues need a lot of work.

So Frazier will be at the Beijing games one year from today.

He says, each time the games roll around, he reminisces back to his days as an olympian.
