Coast Guard Enforces Ferry's Security Zones

HONOLULU (KHNL) - The U.S. Coast Guard will enforce security zones for the Hawaii Superferry.

A circular security zone will extend 100 yards out from the vessel while it's at the harbors of Honolulu, Kahului, Maui, and Nawiliwili, Kauai.

The Coast Guard says the security zone will move with the Alakai as long as it's within three nautical miles of the mouth of a harbor.

No one will be allowed within the security zone while the vessel is underway or at anchor.

Any violation of the security zone is a federal offense.
