KAIMUKI (KHNL) - A terrible discovery in a Honolulu apartment. A woman's bloody body is found by her roommate.

Now, Honolulu Police are now trying to piece together the events that led up to the woman's violent death. and they have recovered a critical piece of evidence -- a gun, but they're still trying to link it to the murder, leaving many questions, at the moment, unanswered.

Looks of shock and disbelief on the faces of this group of people. It's because one of their friends is murdered.

"This morning, a 32-year old female was found with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to her lower chest area," said Lt. Bill Kato, of HPD Homicide Division.

Honolulu Police say the victim's roommate found her on the couch in the morning. They're not sure when the shooting happened. Investigators interview friends, and those who live nearby. They also recover evidence from the scene, including what could be a key piece.

"We've recovered a handgun," said Kato. "We're not sure if it's the one used in the shooting or not."

Police did not want to say who the gun belongs to. They say the roommate is not believed to be involved.

At this point, many questions surround this killing. And police are asking for your help, to try and get some answers.

"We're asking if the public heard any arguments between 9:30 last night, to about 1:30 this morning or possibly a gunshot, or any suspicious activity they may have seen in this area, they could call either crimestoppers or 911," said Kato.

No arrests have been made at this time. And the name of the victim has not been released.
