MANOA (KHNL) - To help ease traffic congestion, the City Council is urging University of Hawaii Manoa administrators to change their class schedules. Most commuters fear August 20th.
That day marks the back to school jam.
City Council members propose the university offer classes much earlier and much later than they are currently scheduled.
Administrators say they are weighing the solutions.
"What the UH administrators told the city council is that we have agreed to look at alternatives," said University Spokesperson Gregg Takayama. "One alternative is to offer classes in the late afternoon and evening to see if there is any demand for them."
In the past, most students are reluctant to sign up for afternoon and evening classes because they work at night to pay for tuition costs.
