HONOLULU (KHNL) -  We've all heard the phrase , "Lucky we live Hawaii," and for those of us who do live in the 808 state we all know living in paradise comes with a price.

With the cost of living, gas and even milk prices in the islands on the rise, Hawaii residents need a break.

A local website that has been around for more than five years promises to do just that.

Nathalie Mullinix is the creator of Kama'aina Discounts -- a site for companies to advertise and give residents special rates.

"It's a beautiful website that people can go to, Kamaaina, find out which companies are offering discounts," said Mullinix.

The site provides access to more than 350 companies throughout the state. It serves as a one-stop-shop for various discounts on travel, activities, services, shopping and dining.

"We want Hawaii to always be a wonderful place that everyone wants to come to but we also have to take care of ourselves and I think that's what Kama'aina Discounts does."

There's also a forum for residents to give feedback on their experiences.

Mullinix says it's a win-win situation. She says the site brings business to companies who in turn put money back into the consumers pockets.

"I think it's really important especially here in Hawaii because we really are a small community and we need to stick together and look out for each other give referrals, repeat business, give discounts."

Mullinix says they are looking for more business partnerships.

Anyone who wants to get involved or wants more information, can click on the Kama'aina Discounts link.
