HONOLULU (KHNL) - Senator Daniel Inouye says the federal government will offer low-interest emergency loans to Hawaii farmers to help them cope with the effects of drought.

Inouye says Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns issued a secretarial disaster designation for all four Hawaii counties due to the drought.

Inouye said the Secretary issued the disaster designation after a departmental review concluded production losses warranted a disaster designation.
