HONOLULU (KHNL) - Pottermania has hit Hawaii!

The final book in the popular Harry Potter series will hit store shelves this weekend and local bookstores are ready.

"Harry Potter: The Deathly Hallows" is under tight security. We weren't even allowed to see the boxes the books are sitting in.

"We think it's going to be crazy," said Monica Coldwell, community relations manager of Barnes & Noble at Ala Moana Center.

Bookstores are handing out colored wristbands to keep track of customers. Borders will hand them out Friday at 9 a.m.

"We're not only selling Harry Potter, the book, it's going to be more an experience. I think if you've ever attended any of the other events we've hosted, it's a huge party," said Les Honda, district marketing manager for Borders.

It'll be a night filled with a costume contest and a trivia competition.

It's a similar story at Barnes & Noble at Ala Moana Center. The staff will also pass out wristbands at 6 p.m. on Friday.

"They should reserve their copy today. Tomorrow, we won't be taking any reservations, it will be all based on walk-ins," said Coldwell.

Due to secrecy issues, both bookstores won't reveal how many copies of the book they have, but they say they have enough to go around.

Some believe this book will break many records.
