HONOLULU (KHNL) - Governor Linda Lingle and members of her cabinet got a royal welcome from the Superferry Wednesday morning.
Governor Lingle, Lieutenant Governor "Duke" Aiona and others got a tour of the controversial vessel.
The governor acknowledges the concerns some neighbor island residents have about the interisland transport.
"I think the issues that are raised are important ones," said Governor Lingle. "Invasive species is a critical issue in our state. The department of agriculture has set up protocols for the Superferry that are much stricter than it is for the airlines. I think every precaution is being taken while recognizing that every new project has an impact."
