Male in Critical Condition After Early Morning Crash

KANEOHE (KHNL) - A male is in critical condition after crashing his vehicle into a cement wall Sunday morning.

The incident occured on Kaneohe Bay Drive, near Moakaka Place. According to police, the driver -- a 19-year-old male from Kaneohe -- was driving at a high rate of speed when he approached a bend in the road. Failing to maneuver the bend, his vehicle veered to towards the right shoulder and collided with a cement wall. The driver was pinned in his vehicle and needed to be extracated by the Honolulu Fire Department.

The driver was taken to the Queen's Medical Center in critical condition.

It is unknown if the driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. According to police, speed is a factor; unknown if alcohol or drugs are factors.
