(KHNL) - The Honolulu Fire Department respond to a late night at Akaula place, in Makakilo.

Crews say the two alarm fire completely destroyed a house and happened shortly before 11 p.m., Tuesday night.

Officials say only one person was home at the time.  Captain Terry Seelig of the Honolulu Fire Department says the woman ended up being trapped in a bedroom.  Seelig, says a neighbor heard her call for help and came to the rescue.

"The accumulation of storage she had in her house prevented her from going out the fornt door.  She also saw smoke and flames in the living room and chose to go out through her bedroom.  She was breaking the windows with the lamp and calling for her neighbor who rushed over to help her by pulling her out of the bedroom window," Seelig says.

Officials say the woman did not suffer any injuries.

At this time, The Red Cross is assisting the family.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
