HONOLULU (KHNL) - It's been exactly 10 years since a Hawaiian musical icon died.
But the music of Israel Kamakawiwo'ole lives on.
His new CD, "Wonderful World", was released today and includes some of his favorite songs, accompanied by an orchestra.
It's attracting new fans.
"I heard about him, I started researching online before we came," said John Dolan, California resident. "We read some of the words and I had to buy it."
A decade after his death, he still affects people around the world.
"Everything around means love, no war, no go against each other, this is real love and we should express to each other," said Rosa Olsen, California resident.
This CD is already becoming a big hit.
"We've opened since 9:00 and almost every single customer that's come in has picked up 1 or 2 copies," said Les Honda, district marketing manager for Borders Hawaii.
Iz's most successful CD is "Facing Future." In fact, it remains a bestseller at Borders.
Fans are grateful for his music. The California residents plan to return home and share Iz's music with friends and family. They just have one regret.
