HONOLULU (KHNL) - A decommissioned submarine named for Minnesota's twin cities will be taken to Pearl Harbor and scrapped.
The Minneapolis-St. Paul is a nuclear-powered attack submarine, built in 1984. The Los Angeles class sub was deactivated because it would have required expensive upgrades.
During its service, the 360-foot-long ship visited 26 different ports and was involved in 12 deployments. The most recent was a six-month stint in the North Atlantic.
