Stab Wound to Chest Killed Elderly Kalihi Woman

KALIHI (KHNL) -- An elderly woman murdered in her Kalihi home Wednesday died from a stab wound to her chest. The Honolulu Medical Examiner's office made that finding during an autopsy Thursday.

Emergency crews rushed to a house on Akina Street and found the 63-year-old woman dead in a bedroom. The ME's office identified her as Liwliwa Barayuga.

Her husband, 61-year-old Victorio Barayuga, is suspected of stabbing her.

Paramedics rushed him to the hospital with what appeared to be a self-inflicted cut to his wrist. He's expected to survive.
