HAVRE DE GRACE, Md. (KHNL) - Second round of the LPGA Championship, the second major of the season.
In the past, this is where local star Michelle Wie's played some of her best golf.
She had a better round today than Thursday.
But still, she had to sweat things out, to just barely make the cut for weekend play.
Michelle long birdie attempt on four, sinks it.
But the rest of the front nine, rough.
Three bogies later, michelle made the turn at plus three and thoughts of making the cut very much in doubt.
But Wie fought back.
Back to back birdies on 14 and 15 moved her back to one over on the day.
Then on 18, trouble.
Michelle sends her tee shot past the gallery.
That led to a bogey putt, to finish the day with a two over 74.
And sitting at the cut line at plus three.
And as it turns out, that was just enough to get by.
As Michelle barely avoids missing the cut at three over.
Unfortunately the news, not so good for ex-Hilo resident Kimberly Kim.
The 15-year old shot a four over 76, to finish at plus five.
As for Wie, she says though her game isn't completely back, its getting there.
