HONOLULU (KHNL) -- A man accused of stealing the identity of a Kauai man found dead in the Philippines was convicted on eight of nine counts Friday.

A jury of six men and six women deliberated for about a day-and-a-half before finding Henry Calucag Junior guilty of ID theft, forgery, credit card fraud, and other offenses.

Prosecutors say he used forged documents to take possession of land on Kauai belonging to his polo partner, John Elwin. Authorities in the Philippines found the victim's body with multiple gunshot wounds last year.

Jurors were deadlocked on one of the credit card fraud charges. Calucag is scheduled to be sentenced August 29th.
