Students Return to Grade School to Unearth Time Capsule

ALA WAI (KHNL) - Seven years ago, they were students at Ala Wai Elementary School.

Now that they're seniors in high school, they returned to their grade school stomping grounds to dig up something they left behind.

The former Ala Wai Elementary students unearthed a time capsule they left behind, prior to the Y2K Buzz before the turn of the century in 1999.

Among the items removed-- student artwork, a copy of the Honolulu Advertiser, and some cd's from artists who were huge at the time -- Britney Spears, N Sync, and the Back Street Boys.

"Guess I was really surprised because I didn't know we had all that stuff in there. Seven years is really long ago, so I didn't really remember much," said former student Susan Zou.

A Group of current students managed to create their own time capsule that they will one day return to dig up and reflect on the day's gone by.
