Man Wanted for Impersonating a Police Officer

HONOLULU (KHNL) - Police are asking the public's help in identifying and locating a man wanted for impersonating a police officer and unauthorized entry into a car.

Police say a man fitting this description stopped a female driver on May 23rd at about 7:45 pm on Piikoi Street.  The suspect had a rotating blue light on the dashboard and used a loud speaker to order the driver to stop.

The suspect told the driver she was being pulled over for a defective taillight and to get out of her car.  The driver, who was talking on her cell phone, refused and the suspect tried to grab the phone from her.

The driver began screaming for help and two men nearby scared the suspect away.  The suspect got back into his car and fled.

The suspect is described as a male in his twenties with a tan complexion. The man was wearing a black jacket and black pants. The car he was driving is described as four-door dark blue or black sedan with dark tinted windows.

Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300.
