(KHNL) - A brutal murder took place early this morning in Halawa Heights.
Investigators say a 55-year-old woman was found stabbed to death in her home, on Paihi Street.
The incident was reported to police at around 12:15 a.m., on Thursday.
Police arrested the victims daughter, 25-year-old daughter, Carol Weidman.
Weidman is accused of strangling and stabbing her own mother in the neck and upper body.
At this time, she has not been charged.
People who live in this area say the family recently moved to the area and kept to themselves.
Sources say Weidman moved from the mainland, and had been living with her mother for about a month.
Either way, neighbors say they are shocked by the killing.
Mary Anne Palmeira, a neighbor, says, "It's very surprising. Nothing like this has ever happened in the neighborhood. Yeah, nothing like this has happened."
Police say the victim's boyfriend made the gruesome discovery when he returned to the house at 11:30 p.m., Wednesday night.
Officers say they recovered three knives.
Captain Frank Fujii, of the Honolulu Police Department, says, "All three of the knives had some blood on it. But whether or not they were in fact the weapons that were used to perpetrate the crime, we don't know."
