D-2 Campaign Kicks Off Memorial Day Weekend

KHNL - The Department of Transportation is asking you not to drink and drive this Memorial Day weekend.

They're continuing their "D-2," or designated driver campaign, in an effort to promote the "Don't Drink and Drive" message. Seventy-five participating nightclubs, bars and restaurants statewide will provide complimentary soft drinks to customers who choose to be designated drivers.

According to the DOT, in 2006, there were 161 traffic fatalities in Hawaii, with 76 of them being alcohol-related.

The D-2 campaign runs from the Memorial Day weekend to the Labor Day weekend.
